We think TIMco In-Dex timber sleeper screws are the best way to fasten railway sleepers. We have had many great reviews about this product and have to agree with our customers after testing them ourselves; TIMco are producing the best timber sleeper screws available.
They will easily screw through pine railway sleepers without difficulty, and although we always recommend drilling a pilot hole it almost isn’t necessary because of their excellent penetration capability on softer wood. The 25-degree sharp point gets you started nicely and with minimal force, and then the 50-degree single thread design pushes the screw through most materials in a hurry. The performance in Oak and some other hardwood sleepers was noticeably better than competing products we’ve tested.
Overall:
When working with heavy materials that require these kinds of screws, please remember to use tools that have sufficient power and safety equipment (of course).
